PARTNERING TO DELIVER NEW FAN EXPERIENCES
The National Hockey League (NHL) dropped the puck to start the regular season last week with a couple of new partnerships to deliver new fan experiences. The league partnered with DraftKings to make them an official sports betting, daily fantasy sports, and iGaming partner in the U.S. Not only does the deal make DraftKings the official sports betting partner, but the deal is also significant because it will allow Turner Sports to broadcast sports betting data and daily fantasy statistics on-air and over their digital platforms as well. ESPN and Turner are now the main media rights holders for the NHL and will be featuring unprecedented locker room access, on-ice cameras during shootouts, and much more on their broadcasts to deliver a more immersive and engaging at-home experience for fans. The opportunity for fans to Access, Co-Watch, and Bet are coming together clearly in the NHL’s new media plan.
