The National Football League (NFL) asked teams not to develop partnerships with NFT companies, and now we know why. The league partnered with Dapper Labs, the company behind the very popular NBA Top Shot, to develop a set of digital collectibles. The NFL and NFLPA will take equity in Dapper Labs as part of a deal that also includes a minimum guarantee and royalties. NFL fans around the country can now participate and interact in the online community these NFTs will create. Our Community-Based Monetization Model emphasizes how important it is for leagues, teams, and properties to rethink how they produce, distribute, and measure content. With the digital collectibles space on the rise, this is a great opportunity for the NFL to capitalize on a young and upcoming community.
