INNOVATION IN ACTION
VISITING YOUR FAVORITE STADIUM WHILE AT HOME
Sports teams have been working to introduce technology and infrastructure into their smart venues for quite some time, but a memorable in-person experience may not cut it anymore. Manchester City Football Club announced its plans to develop an immersive experience in the metaverse through a digital version of Etihad Stadium. The Premier League club joins MLB's Atlanta Braves in the pursuit of digital venue innovation. Both teams are looking to recreate the power of togetherness and offer fans from all over the world a chance to watch and create shared experiences as a community. The digital offerings will also allow the teams to reach a younger more tech-savvy fan. Fluid Fans want to have access and stay connected to their favorite teams even if they are unable to get to the stadium in person. Stadiums throughout the metaverse could be an innovative and dynamic way to bring fans together.

PROVIDING MORE INVESTMENT AND OPPORTUNITY
The Premier Hockey Federation made some major announcements last week to provide the teams and athletes with more financial flexibility and advancement. Beginning in the 2022-23 season, the Federation will raise the salary cap to $750,000, which is a 150 percent increase from last year. Other big changes include 100 percent of the athletes' healthcare premiums being paid by the league as well as an expansion from six to eight teams. The historic investments in PHF athletes will also include updating facilities, purchasing new equipment, increasing ice time for practices, and growing the season schedule to 28 games. This announcement comes off the heels of the massive viewership numbers for the Gold Medal game between USA and Canada and is another push to invest more into the sport of women's hockey.
