INNOVATION IN ACTION

CREATING A CLEAR PICTURE FOR STREAMING AUDIENCES

Ahead of its first season with exclusive rights to the NFL's Thursday Night Football, Amazon has partnered with Nielsen. The tech giant and the market measurement firm agreed to a three-year partnership, the first for Nielsen in the streaming space. Nielsen will include the ratings from the streaming service in its weekly television-viewing report, which is used by advertisers to determine the value of commercial slots. For the last two years, the company has tracked general streaming numbers from big players in the space such as Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon’s Prime Video, but never for a live streaming program. This deal is a big step for the audience measurement space as collecting accurate data on live sports streaming services has been a challenge for the industry with the various co-watching elements, account sharing, and channel redistribution.

That's why we partnered with an organization such as Dow to produce our report on sustainability entitled: "Getting into the Game: The Sports Industry's Responsibility to Our Planet." Dow has been committed to sustainability practices for the last 30 years and understands the impact sustainability can have on the market. Through our research, we know that fans are more likely to be brand loyal to companies that have similar values and societal views. Climate action is needed to protect our planet, people, and future. The support of consumers and other stakeholders creates the opportunity for the sports industry to lead on issues of sustainability.
