RETHINKING HOW TEAMS CELEBRATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Winning a league championship typically includes getting a ring covered in diamonds and other precious gems. Last week, two European football leagues went for a more innovative approach and will have a digital NFT to commemorate their champions. Manchester City became the first Premier League team to create an NFT for winning the Premier League title. Another top-tier league in Europe, Serie A, announced that the winner of the Coppa Italia will be honored with an NFT. After a 2-1 win over Atalanta, Juventus F.C. will be the recipient of Serie A’s innovative championship NFT collection. Both Manchester City FC (#1) and Juventus F.C. (#9) were a part of our Top 25 Most Innovative Teams in the World report, and creating these innovative NFT Championship collections will help them stay high up in the rankings.
