Title IX Content Creator Grant Update on Rockstar Radha Gupta

The creator of the women's sports media platform "She Talks Ball" is doing big things since Sports Innovation Lab awarded her $1,972 in honor of Title IX's origins in 1972

Those of you dedicated, OG readers of the Sports Innovation Lab newsletter may remember our Title IX Content Creator Grants, in which we gave $1,972 to four up-and-coming female entrepreneurs in the sports space. We gave them $1,972 to honor Title IX’s origins in the year 1972, and told the women to use the grants in whatever way they thought would bring about the most growth for their platforms. Recently, one of our grant recipients - Radha Gupta - reached out to us with an update of how the grant has changed the game for her platform “She Talks Ball.”

For those of you who need a refresher, Radha started her own media outlet during the pandemic. She was watching more sports than ever in order to keep herself busy and noticed a huge deficit of coverage within women’s sports. In order to try to change this, Radha set up her laptop in her college dorm in India and got to work, seeking to give female athletes more exposure. This was the beginning of Radha’s media platform “She Talks Ball,” which includes a wide range of content - analysis, tactical breakdowns, interviews, highlight videos, articles, photography - that is centered around European football and cricket.

Radha used a portion of her grant money to invest in high-end production equipment. Shortly after, she had the opportunity to collaborate with Chelsea FC for a season-long show of episodes, including interviews with star players. If you want to check it out, you can check out “She Talks Chelsea,” linked here.

After being awarded exclusive media rights, Radha also used the grant money to cover all of her travel expenses to attend the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2022, where her accounts acted as the main outlet for the event. At the tournament, Radha watched Sam Kerr, Ji So-Yun, Mana Iwabuchi, and other superstars face-off. This exposure has directly correlated to a rapid increase in Radha’s social following. At the tournament alone, Radha’s Twitter earned nearly 2 million impressions.

In addition to attending the AFC Women’s Asain Cup, Radha was granted media accreditation for the Arnold Clark Cup - an invitational football tournament between ENG, GER, ESP & CAN. With this opportunity, Radha hit another milestone, with “She Talks Ball” being recognized as a media platform that is big enough to grant accreditation to a representative.

Radha has done all of this before even graduating from college. In just two months, Radha will officially graduate and hopes to continue her entrepreneurial work, and potentially join another global organization centered around her passion for women’s sports full time.

We are so happy that Radha put our Title IX grant to good use and has seen so much amazing growth since we awarded the grants six months ago. This is what The Fan Project is all about. The future of sports is female, and with amazing individuals like Radha paving the way, the future sure is bright.
